The Bloom Township Senior Wheels program operates a curb to curb transportation service offered to seniors 60 years of age and older or handicapped within the boundaries of the township. Transportation service is provided Monday through Friday between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm. Office hours are 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Senior Wheels reservations must be made at least one business day before the trip for regular service destinations and at least two days in advance for trips to Ingalls, South Suburban and St James Olympia Fields Hospitals.
All reservations must be made prior to 2:00 pm. If you cannot make your scheduled trip and need to cancel, please contact the office as soon as possible. A rider is limited to one round trip per day. You will only be taken to the destination for which you have made a reservation.
Because the township is funded by the Older Americans Act, the fare is on a donation basis. The Senior Wheels suggested donation is $2.00 for a round trip ride and $4.00 for a trip to the outside area hospitals. The Senior Wheels depends greatly on these donations to continue to provide this service to the senior and disabled populations.
Passengers who need assistance inside their destinations should have someone to assist them. Passengers may request assistance to the exterior door of their pick-up or destination if: the driver determines that the assistance will enhance the safety of the passenger and not compromise the vehicle or other passengers.
