Laretta was born and raised in Ford Heights, Illinois. Laretta is a military veteran. Laretta serves as an Assistant Superintendent at a school district. Laretta’s primary functions include managing an annual budget, strategic planning, financial reporting and accountability, collective bargaining, and directly overseeing various departments including transportation, food service, human resources, maintenance, and business operations.


Laretta is licensed as a School Superintendent and as a Chief School Business Official by Illinois State Board of Education. Laretta has earned a Mini MBA Executive Certificate from Loyola University, a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Walden University, a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Governors State University and an Associate’s Degree from Prairie State College.

Laretta attended Harvard University for Learning Environments for School Leaders of Tomorrow. Laretta earned a Crisis Management Certificate from DePaul University. Laretta earned a Human Resource Management Certification from George Mason University. Laretta is also certified as a Tax Credit Specialist, a Certified Manager of Housing, and a Certified Occupancy Specialist through the National Certification of Housing Management.

Community Service

Inspired by her love for children, Laretta sponsors the “Most Improved 8th Grader” at local elementary schools. She volunteers as a mentor for NuVision Mentor Organization in Olympia Fields. Laretta serves as a member on the Southland Juvenile Justice Council. Laretta hosts fundraisers for PADS Homeless Shelter. Laretta also serves on the Board of Directors for the Bloom Township Food Pantry.

With years of hard work and community service under her belt, Laretta is honored to serve in township government.
